ACCESS: AN ORDINARY NOTION
A NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION
SPONSORED BY NCWCA
I’m super excited to announce my latest curatorial project with the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art! ACCESS: An Ordinary Notion features artworks that tell individual stories and advocate for social justice and human rights. Inspired by Alice Paul who introduced the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923, this potent collection showcases artworks that speak to and illuminate the ongoing conversation around race, women's and LGBTQIA+ rights, reproductive rights, disparities in global wealth, power, access to food, water, shelter, education, health services, disability access, child and elder care, along with immigration issues, climate change, and criminal (in)justice in the modern world. The Alice Paul Institute and the Susan B. Anthony Museum & House partnered with NCWCA for this timely exhibition!

A PANDEMIC SKETCHBOOK
Throughout the Pandemic, my artists’ breakfast group created and shared a sketchbook, because we could no longer meet in person. We passed the sketchbook from artist to artist, filling it with art and words. It’s interesting to see the progression from thinking the Pandemic may be short-lived to… “Is this the new normal?!#” By the time all 23 artists made their contributions, the notebook no longer looked pristine, but temptingly browsable, with threads, fabric, and strips of paper poking out. Maryly Snow and I created this book not only to share with the breakfast group, but also to share with you and the world! It’s a good read. To order, click HERE

BAY AREA WOMEN ARTISTS' LEGACY PROJECT - The Nineties
The Bay Area Women Artists’ Legacy Project is a group of twenty-three accomplished female artists who have taken the collective initiative to document and preserve their work for future generations. … its broader aim is to encourage a more supportive environment of greater visibility for historically under-represented populations of artists.
~Barbara Morris, Introductory Essay
This is the BAWALP's fourth publication! I’m delighted, as always, to be both a participant and the project’s publication creative director. Many thanks to my co-designer, artist Carol Benioff, and our amazing shepherd/facilitator, artist Jan Wurm. Available on Lulu.com soon!
PORTALS —AN NCWCA MEMBER EXHIBITION
My second NCWCA all member exhibition, Portals, tracks these exciting developments. The previous all member exhibition, Composing the Future, was staged while we were still coping with, and restricted by, the pandemic. This was a critical time for many artists, so I asked NCWCA Artists to flex their artistic powers in response to the extreme events of 2020-2021 and to propel their hopes, dreams, and ideas into the future. THE WILD SIDE
Creative Direction, Design: Elizabeth Addison
Juror and Contributor: Cynthia Brannvall
Editor: Laura Abrams
We all have a wild side, whether we stride boldly there or keep it under the radar. Women, traditionally, have been taught to keep their “wildness” under wraps – raucous, adventurous, risk-taking, bold & brave, sometimes licentious, or living outside traditional moral codes. For THE WILD SIDE, an NCWCA Exhibition, California women artists evoke drama, awe, and strong emotions with works that excite visually… and celebrate the untamed! For more info, click HERE.
